Tara leads regular, seasonal, online workshops. Some are more lighthearted and whimsical, while others ask participants to meet their shadow selves and do some personal reflection and growth. With a background in emotional safety concepts gained from immersive live action role play (larp) [link to that section], Tara provides a safe and welcoming environment for deep exploration.

Tara also leads in-person workshops at events and stores in the Washington, DC area.

Tara's Workshop Story

It all started with Sanctuary Avalon, my digital larp executed in 2020. Sanctuary Avalon was an online storygame with custom characters, where players found respect, honor, and a Guineverian world led by women and femmes. Combined with a spiritual experience, this larp unlocked acceptance and discovery for participants during a difficult time in the world -- yet, a time when we became self-reflective in isolation.

A major component of the Sanctuary Avalon experience involved guided meditation. Players responded very positively to the model of role play for depth combined with guided meditation, and the feedback about the inclusion of my guided meditation and tarot experiences was incredibly positive. This inspired me to offer these core experiences to non-roleplayers who still wanted to learn to tell their own stories.

Spinning the Golden Thread: Weaving Hope From Shadow Work | Online

Location: Online (Zoom)

May 31, 1-3 p.m. Eastern

In our communities, we often focus on exploring the shadow side of ourselves: finding hidden areas of improvement and confronting emergent difficulties that dog us. In this workshop, we'll talk about what to do with the results of your shadow work and self improvement -- how to put what you've learned into action to help yourself, your family, and your community. This workshop includes a kinetic activity (participants can remain seated), journaling (please bring your journal!), and a take-home meditation for future development.

Practicing Your Craft: Create Your Ethical Code

Location: Online (Zoom)

June 20 | 1-3 p.m. Eastern

In this workshop, we will discuss the different ethics that come with practicing spirituality and living as your authentic self in a tumultuous time. Based on our notes, we will create our own scrolls and posters, making our personal creeds into keepsakes. 

We will use questions for discussion to guide our personal statements, such as:

  • Is inclusivity at the center of my practice?

  • What are the three main tenets of my beliefs?

  • What do I hold sacred?

  • How do I define magic?

  • Do I perform baneful magic, and if so, what are my limitations on that (if any)?

  • Who do I do magic/ritual/prayer for?

  • What do I consider to be unethical? (Example: interfering with someone else's will.)

  • What texts or books influence my work/are sacred to me?

You are welcome to bring helpful references, such as your own Book of Shadows or journal, tarot to help you divine answers, and books or quotes integral to your practice. Please note that we are discussing very personal topics and beliefs in an inclusive, non-judgmental space in which each participant will work to define their own personal code.
